The CD has 9 songs, 8 of which are original. As you might expect,
all the songs are heavily laden with Brass, Blues and Balls! The CD was recorded by Mark Lamar
at 'Made Ya Look' Studios in Green Bay, WI, in late fall of 1997.
The band had advertised a "New Years Eve" CD release
party. Unfortunately the CD's did not arrive from the publishing
house until the middle of January, 1998. Most folks will
agree it was definitely worth the wait. The band
suggests that you get a copy of it soon, because they are sure
it will be worth something someday, maybe even money! |

"I Want You" was written
by Patrick Phalen, Trumpet guy and supreme leader of "The Hog
Horns". This tune is 'jump swing' at it's best with great
horn lines, great instrumental solos, and really slick vocal work
from Chris Andersen. The Guitar, Tenor sax, and alto sax solos
make you have to snap your fingers and tap your toe. By the
time the song is over, you will have decided that "You Want
It". By the way, the band does this song live. |

"Take it Slow", written and sung by Brian Gruselle, does anything but 'Take It Slow'!
This is kind of a "dues" tune from Brian ( he has an over-active
imagination ). The beat is driving and the song is tight!
The bridge section of the song features some "outside" chord
changes, but they sound great just the same. The song features
an excellent guitar solo, horn parts that are really "in the
pocket", and vocal harmonies that really fill out the chorus!
The live version of this tune loses nothing when compared to the CD
version. Check it out! |

"I Want to Hold You" is the first of two ballads on the CD. It's blues feel and
powerful vocals have been thrilling all who hear it. The horn
parts were tastefully arranged by tenor sax man, Kerry Grove.
Once again, guitarist, Pat Kiel, plays some sweet, soulful music
in the holes and during the solo. Brian Gruselle's voice is
really showcased in this number as he pours out some heavy emotion.
This song will give you the courage to introduce yourself to a complete
stranger and ask them to dance! It's amazing what real inspiration
can do! |

"Can You See" is definitely a soul tune with a liberal dose of funk! Written by Chris Andersen
(He got the idea on the way to a performance one night ), this song
has a simple, driving groove that really is infectious. This
is the kind of song that sticks in your head and, days after hearing
it, you will find yourself singing it! The vocal work by Chris
Andersen is simple and to the point. "The Leaning Tower
of Horns" really shine in this number! |

"Bag A Groove". Now here is a cool tune with a Latin twist. Written by Adam
Plamann, this song is probably the most requested song from the CD.
Adam sings the vocals with a cool, yet compelling style. The
tenor sax ( Kerry Grove ) and trumpet ( Patrick Phalen ) solos are
really hip. The rhythm section, particularly John Stelzer, the
drummer, does a fabulous job of keeping the Latin motifs moving.
This song will make you want to put a basket of fresh fruit on your
head and rumba all night long! |

"The Invisible Man"
has a great story behind it. Written by Brian Gruselle while
working as a solo piano player, this song describes a hotel lounge
(any hotel lounge anywhere) where people show up because they want
to watch TV at the bar instead of watching it back in their hotel
rooms. Brian would sit at a piano and play to the backs of
his audience as they would be more interested in "Wheel of
Fortune" than lounge piano music. One night while feeling
very much ignored, Brian began intentionally playing clinkers and
singing the wrong lyrics to the songs. NOBODY NOTICED!!!
Brian was heard to say, "Boy, I feel like the invisible man
tonight". If you listen to the piano music and the words
of this song, you will feel immediately what Brian was feeling that
night in the bar. |

"Dreaming of You",
written and sung by Adam Plamann is one of the sweetest songs you'll
ever hear. Tasteful horn lines, also arranged by Adam, are
sprinkled liberally through out the song. But underneath all
that sweetness lies a foundation of heavy sound and lots of energy.
The guitar solo ( Pat Kiel ) adds a touch of power with it's over-driven,
but under-control sound. The song fades with a fine organ
solo ( Brian Gruselle ) that is so sincere, it borders on Gospel.
This song is definitely meant for makin' love! |

"The Final Word" is
a swing tune written by Patrick Phalen. Once again, "The
Leaning Tower of Horns" add some fat, sassy horn lines to this
song. The lead and background vocals were sung by Chris Andersen.
The Piano ( Brian Gruselle ) and trombone ( Pete Emerson ) solos
add a cool flavor to the song. The band had a good time recording
this tune and you can tell when you listen to it. |

The last song on the CD, "Happy Trails" is the only
song on the CD that was not written by a member of the band.
It features the Horn section only on a great arrangement by Patrick
Phalen. The songs helps you to "ride off into the sunset"
as you listen to the meaningful sounds of pigs at play. Music
to our ears! |
